Perdido Project Start Up Day 4 & 5
We are WOG (waiting on gas). The plant is complete, the flare package is complete and we are waiting on the programming to be complete on the flare package to start moving gas to the plant. Plent activities yesterday and today are cleaning and finishing loose ends.
Once we have gas to the plant we will start the generators up and begin tuning them as much as we can until we need to load them up. Enercon will be in on Monday to finish the work with the switchgear and Chuck Anderson will be in Wednesday to phase and set relays. Gulf Power will need to inspect and test their safety systems as well as their own and then we will be ready to load the generators.
Keep in touch.

Barry
Perdido LFG Plant Start Up – Day 3
Plant start up shifts into getting the generators and switchgear ready. Patten Power from Chicago is helping the LFG Tech team preping the engines. ENERCON will be here on Monday to finish the prep for the switchgear and Chuck Anderson with LFG Tech will be in later next week to finish the “phasing” and relay settings.
If anyone has any questions, please feel free to ask.
Regards,
Barry
Perdido LFG Project – Second Day Startup
Tuesday was the first full day on the project start up. The flare and blower package provided by LFG Tech will provide the vacuum to the landfill and ship the LFG to the power plant. Tuesday morning was spent aligning the direct drive blower and starting the programming of the control panel. John Lenting with Patton Power is back at the project inspecting and getting the two 3520 C generators ready for start up. Much work to be done and we will try to keep you up to date on our progress.
From the project.

LFG Tech Partner Awarded Contract to Build 13.3 mile LFG Pipeline
Veolia signed a contract to sell gas from its Emerald Park Landfill in Muskego, WI to the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) that will use it in lieu of more expensive natural gas at its sewage treatment plant in Jones Island. Under the 20-year agreement, the MMSD will pay $2.11 per dekatherm (MMBtu) or 48% of the price of natural gas on the New York Mercantile Exchange, a savings of 52% which could equate to between $25 million and $65 million over the life of the contract. The district has already awarded a $16.89 million contract to Meade Electric Co. of McCook, IL to build a 13.3 mile pipeline, now under construction, between the landfill and Jones Island. The district will install three 4.8-megawatt turbines that will burn the landfill gas in a building on Jones Island.
Meade Electric Company partner’s with LFG Technologies to develop landfill gas energy projects through LFG Technologies Development, LLC. Contact Barry Rogers @ 585-425-3436 for more information.
Perdido Power Plant Enters Start Up Phase
I am headed to Pensacola on Monday to begin the start up phase of the Perdido Power Plant. Perdido is located at the Escambia County Landfill, owned by Gulf Power Company and designed, built and operated by LFG Technologies. The plant includes two CAT 3520C generators and will be expanded to four generators as landfill gas permits.
We expect the start up to take about a week. Once we have completed the Performance testing the project will enter normal operations. The open house is scheduled in October and if you would like to attend, please let me know via this blog and we will be happy to get you an invite.
I will be blogging the rest of the week from sunny (and hot) Pensacola.
